Geraniol could be find in the ingredients of deodorants, perfumes, cleaning products, and numerous cosmetics. This Terpene is naturally present in some marijuana strains, adding complexity and depth to their aromas.
In addition to its magnificent fragrance, Geraniol may have unique clinical potential, as it may also act synergistically with other cannabis compounds through the entourage effect.

Geraniol Chemistry
Like Myrcene, Limonene and Linalool, Geraniol is a monoterpene, meaning it’s the smallest and most common type of Terpenes found in cannabis. Unlike Sesquiterpenes, monoterpenes only have two isoprene units.
Geraniol has a chemical structure of C₁₀H₁₈O and contains two prenyl units and one hydroxyl (OH) group. With a molecular mass of 154.253 g·mol−1 and a boiling point of 230°C (446°F), Geraniol is a fairly volatile compound; a characteristic of monoterpenes.

Geraniol Aroma and Flavor
Geraniol has a strong aroma and flavor. Although it’s scents is rather floral like roses. It also has citrus and fruity undertones reminiscent of peaches, berries, apples, stone fruit, melon and pineapple.
Its flavor is similar to the aforementioned, although noticeably more floral. However, marijuana strains rich in Geraniol tend to have sweet and fruity aromas, along with citrus and lemongrass undertones.
Effects of Geraniol
Although it is difficult to determine the specific effects of Geraniol in marijuana, this terpene is often associated with calming effects on the body and stimulating effects on the mood.
